Win an Experience Day at Robineau

I hope you are enjoying the lighter nights. The weather is picking up now which puts us all in a brighter mood and gives us chance to get out and about. Fred and I have been tackling our garden or jungle would be the better word to describe it! As we were so busy last year with builders and opening the café it didn’t get much attention. However we have started to clear it out and we are determined to have some of our veggies again and looking forward to the first crop of peas and some delicious beans too.
The topic of gardening brings me nicely on to introducing a new exciting Brassiere Lunch menu in this month’s newsletter. Changing every month this menu will encompass fresh seasonal produce. To wet your appetites May’s Brassiere menu is detailed in our Café section…
More exciting news to tell you about this month are the Restaurant nights and wait for it, Events. Now what might these be? – Demonstrations or perhaps a Bread Master Class? Who knows! Keep Reading!
Lastly and most importantly it will be our 1st Anniversary of opening the Café on the 15th of May. To celebrate this special birthday we are giving away some wonderful treats hidden away inside golden milk chocolate bars! Does this remind you of a famous Children’s story by the imaginative Roal Dahl!!?? Read More in the Anniversary section…. and find out what the top prize is….
2012 Christmas Newsletter!

I hope you are all well. With the last autumn leaves falling and darker nights here I’m afraid it’s quickly galloping towards December. It’s certainly cold and especially so in our shop window, as a family of cheeky penguins have appeared! I think they actually came from the kitchen and not the South Pole but do come and bring the children along to see them. They like visitors but you can’t feed them!
My newsletter is much shorter today than normal as I have attached our Christmas brochure and thought you may have enough to read! I have also added our sumptuous Dinner menu for our Christmas Restaurant nights which are taking place on the 7th and 14th of December and details of our Christmas Afternoon tea which is running from the 1st of December through to the 22nd.

Easter Newsletter

I hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely spring weather. Lighter nights are just around the corner which means more time in the garden and lots of nice walks in the countryside again. The other week we went for a long walk around Low force near Middleton in Teesdale, our favourite spot and had a picnic in the sunshine. Matthew found some frogs and frog spawn and lots of places to pretend being a Roman soldier! If you have never been pop it on your list of walks to do.
We hope you all enjoyed your mother’s day gifts last weekend and had chance to spend some quality family time together. I guess many of you had afternoon tea as the afternoon tea tray was the most popular item from the menu.
So I think you will have guessed by the photo above what’s next – Easter! Today I have Easter gifts for you, Easter desserts, café corner and flavour of the month – Apricots.
Valentines 2012

Firstly Frederic and I would like to say a big thank you for your patience whilst we were closed mid January to refurbish the shop. We hope you like the new but old fashioned design we have created. It gives you a little taste of what’s to come for the café décor….but there are still plenty of surprises to come! For example my curtains! They are beautiful! We have a standing joke/marital difference about the cost of the curtains I have chosen, I admit to having expensive tastes but I’ve got my own way in the end and we have managed to carefully trim elsewhere to have them, oh and the wallpaper and the banquette covers! Please don’t spill coffee on them!!
As promised I have a little bit of info on the progress of the café, plus top tips for Valentines gifts for the Romeo or Juliette in your life. If you are dining in this Valentines’ don’t forget you can’t just dine on love you do need some calories too!! So I have desserts for two and you can do that feeding each other thing with a spoon or anything else that springs to mind with a Robineau dessert! Let’s stop there and get down to business…..
Macaroons are back, two flavours, with one being a recreation of a favourite dessert, an idea from our young chef Aimee. We also have a change to our ‘dessert of the month’ to ‘flavour of the month’. Lastly but certainly not least we share our proud moment from January when we designed a bespoke wedding cake for a wedding at the Savoy, London.
Christmas 2011 Newsletter

I start our December newsletter typing with excited fingers as Fred and I would like to officially announce that our plans to have a café are going ahead! Since we first opened the patisserie doors back in June 2007 customers have asked if there is a café through the back! Well in April there will be and we all look forward to serving you with a Robineau smile and delicious food.
The new ‘Café corner’ section within our newsletter will keep you updated with hot off the press news and a few pictures of work in progress! No builders though with cups of tea please!

Autumn Newsletter

Well it is certainly autumn now, although we were not too sure a few weeks ago with those hot temperatures! It was a nice treat though before we think about hibernating and getting cosy in front of our fires!
This month we bring you more comfort food – Pies! We decided on our tour de France to step onto the Euro star and come back to England for something us Brits do well, apple pies, apple and blackberry pies, large and small with crunchy brown sugar on the top.
We also have this month’s macaroons and also a few hints on the Christmas menu which is coming out next month.
August Newsletter

I am speechless today looking outside at the pouring rain. Where is our summer, does anyone know?!! Ah yes you’ve all been or going on a plane to another planet where sun exists! Just like us really… Daniel has been to Majorca, Karen’s been to Spain and Amsterdam, Aimee is daring to go down South this year and we’ve been to Norway and even in rainy Bergen it rained less than here! Anyway we have lots of sunny patisserie for your wet barbeques and family gatherings! The must buy of the month are the passion fruit macaroons!
Come in and see us and we promise a warm welcome and a sunny smile!
Father’s Day at Robineau

I hope our newsletter finds you all happy and smiling, planning for a lovely sunny summer holiday and getting those shorts out of the wardrobe! It needs to be a bit warmer to get my white milk bottles out but here’s hoping!
Our patisserie is as busy as ever and we are progressing with our café plans which I will have firm news on next month for you.
While typing this I keep getting wafts of choux pastry from the kitchen which is making my mouth water as I know what the result will be…..it’s our dessert of the month for June and it’s a seriously yummy one……….
This month we have Father’s Day on the 19th of June so we have a few present ideas for the best Dads in the world including a manly box of macaroons!
